Restaurant history

In the center of this Renaissance city, one finds the famous Osteria “da la Stella”, a quiet place to gather, which restores the ambience of Urbino’s artistic culture.

From his studio, the painter Giovanni Santi, father of Raffaello, had contact with the “Compagnia del Corpus Domini” and of the court of Federico, with grand artists that wrote the history of the Renaissance.
Some of these artists included Piero della Francesca, Paolo Uccello, Giusto di Gand, Pedro Berruguete, Giovanni Corradini, Giovanni Boccati, Girolamo di Giovanni ecc.
In the archives of Compagnia del Corpus Domini records were found that indicate the room and board fees of various artists with payments made out Nicolò della Stella. The most prominent of the painters, Raffaello Sanzio, during his returns to the city, never turned down a visit to the Osteria to reunite with some of his friends.

Today, the Antica Osteria “da la Stella” offers traditional dishes revisited, with a selection of the most fresh ingredients and seasonal products
